I don't think we charged for anything beyond the initial install either. It wasn't happening very often by the time he said to leave it. The customer was very nice and understanding, and eventually he just told us not to worry about it.

I seem to remember the reverse light going off when the camera did but I can't remember for sure. I can't say for sure you are running into the same issue, but that screen looks a lot like when we were powered directly by the wire. Between me and my shop manager who has over 30 years experience and is damn good at troubleshooting, we never figured out for sure what was the ultimate cause. No matter where we found a signal it seemed to either not handle the load or was just shutting itself off to protect it or who knows what it was. So I relocated the relay to the front and used a wire from the comfort control module (if I'm remembering right). That was better but sometimes the relay wouldn't trip. Seemed to me to be dropping voltage too low for the camera to function so I used the reverse light to trigger a relay and ran my own wire to power the camera. When I test it the picture looked a lot like what you are showing and would cut off similarly. I recently installed a camera on a 2017 or 18 VW Tuoreg. I could see it being a poor ground or maybe power connection, but it looks kind of familiar to me. I guess I'm just looking to get second opinions on what the issue could be? Should I just take it back to people that installed it and insist they take a closer look at the wiring? Would a reputable place charge me for that if it's an issue with how they wired it? Here's a video I took showing what happens when I put the car in the reverse. I plugged a DVD player into my head unit and the picture from that came in perfectly fine, so I'm assuming it's something with the wiring. I took it back to the place that installed it the day after they did it and one of the guys took a quick look at the wiring in the trunk, made sure the reverse light bulbs are working, and said it all looked good and was probably a bad camera, so I ordered another camera but it's doing the same exact thing. When I put the car in reverse, sometimes it comes on and shows a glitchy video feed then turns off after a few seconds, or it just doesn't come on at all. I just had an eRapta ERT01 2nd Generation backup camera installed in my 2015 Volkswagon Passat Wolfsburg Edition by a local company in my town, but it isn't working how it should. r/electricvehicles - For electric vehicles r/diyaudio - Audio Projects & talk For the DIY'er r/soundsystem - PA's, Concert Rigs, Road Gear r/hometheater - For the HomeTheater lovers r/audiophile - Strictly High Fidelity discussion r/CarAVvendors - CarAV vendor info/deals r/CarAVclassifieds - CarAV's trading hub Please remember to restrict product promotion posts to 10% or less of your total combined self and link posts as per reddit spam guidelines.
